Home Remedies For Headache

Headache is avery common problem and are not life threatening which can be explained as the discomfort felt in one or more portions of the head. Generally refers to a persistent or lasting pain in the head region, as contrasted with a "head pain", such as trigeminal neuralgia, which is quite brief. Most headaches are functional, being caused by temporary upsets, and are not related to any organic changes in the brain. Symptoms occur within 30 minutes of ingesting MSG, as it is rapidly absorbed by the stomach. There are many causes of headaches including tension headache, migraine headache, cluster headache, occipital neuralgia or trigeminal neuralgia (specific nerve related pain syndromes). Most headaches are treated with medical therapy. On the other hand, if you have a brain tumor, and develop a new headache - you must tell the doctor right away.

Home Remedies For Headache

Apples are beneficial in curing headache problem. Eat an apple with a little salt on an empty stomach everyday and see its wonderful effects.

Drinking a glass of water (warm water in winter and cool water in summer), mixed with a teaspoon of honey first thing in the morning, is also a good remedy.

Add water to 1 tbsp ginger powder. Heat gently in a pan. Apply the warm poultice on forehead. Keep for 15 minutes.

Cinnamon is useful in headaches caused by exposure to cold air. A fine paste of this spice should be prepared by mixing it with water and it should be applied over the temples and forehead to obtain relief.

Caffeine can also help, caffeine constricts the blood vessels which widen during a migraine headache. Now, I'm not a big fan of this treatment because you can become addicted to caffeine, and if you don't have a caffeine you can get a headache, so just use it when you have a headache.

Make a herbal tea with 10-15 holy basil leaves (tulsi), 5-6 peppercorns and 1/2" ginger piece, powder. Keep in an air tight bottle. Take 2 pinches with warm water when a headache starts.
