Home Remedies For Asthma


Asthma is an illness of respiratory system characterized by wheezing that accounts for 10 million absences from school in the US each year. The asthma patient gets frequent attacks of breathlessness, in between which, he is completely normal. Often from an allergic origin. Asthma, particularly when the attack is severe, tends to destroy the appetite. In such cases, do not force the patient to eat. Typical symptoms of an asthma attack are coughing, wheezing, tight chest, difficulty breathing. Asthma is a condition of the lungs caused by constriction of the airways and mucus secretion. These interfere with normal air movement in the lungs and cause wheezing. Asthma is caused by a variety of factors. It may be due to an allergy caused by weather conditions, food, drugs, perfumes, and other irritants. Allergies to dust are the most common.

Home Remedies For Asthma

Lemon is another fruit found beneficial in the treatment of asthma. The juice of one lemon, diluted in a glass of water and taken with meals, will bring good results.

Eat salmon 3 times a week and take salmon oil capsules.

Drink coffee and Soft drinks with caffeine (colas), caffeine dilates the bronchial airways.

Honey is considered beneficial in the treatment of asthma. It is said that if a jug of honey is held under the nose of an asthma patient and he inhales the air that comes into contact with the honey, he starts breathing easier and deeper.

Vitamin C Is needed to fight infection, increase the amount of oxygen and reduce inflammation.

Garlic is another effective home remedy for asthma. Ten garlic cloves, boiled in 30 ml of milk, make an excellent medicine for the early stages of asthma. This mixture should be taken once daily by the patient. Steaming ginger tea with two minced garlic cloves in it, can also help to keep the problem under control, and should be taken in the morning and evening.

One of the preventive measures to stop attacks of asthma is to drink water which has been kept overnight in a copper vessel. This water, with traces of copper in it, is believed to change one's constitutional tendency to get respiratory problems.

A decoction made from linseed is considered useful in curing congestion in asthma and to prevent recurrence of attacks. Simultaneously; linseed poultice should be applied externally at the lung bases for reducing internal congestion.

During the attack, mustard oil mixed with little camphor should be massaged over the back of the chest.
