Urinary tract infections (utis) include bacterial NEPHRITIS, PYELONEPHRITIS, CYSTITIS and URETHRITIS. The infection may involve all parts of the urinary tract. While adults and older children can usually describe urinary symptoms clearly, young children often have difficulty in conveying them. They may just complain of 'tummyache'. and the only sign may be crying on urinating or being picked up, when the pain is caused by pressure on a tender kidney. Elderly bedridden people often have vague, non-specific symptoms of UTI. If an infant, young child or elderly person has unexplained bouts of feve, the urine should always be tested to rule out UTI. Urinary tract infections are treated with appropriate antibiotics and correction of any contributory underlying cause. A urinary tract infection ( UTI ) is a bacterial infection that affects any part of the urinary tract . This infection can happen in parts of your urinary tract, like your kidneys, bladder, or urethra (yuh-ree-thra). Women are most at risk of developing a UTI. About 500,000 women in Canada go to the doctor every year because of UTI. In fact, half of all women will develop a uti during their lifetimes, and many will experience more than one. The urinary system is composed of the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. All play a role in removing waste from your body. The kidneys, a pair of bean-shaped organs in your upper posterior abdomen, filter waste from your blood. Tubes called ureters carry urine from your kidneys to your bladder, where it is stored until it exits the body through the urethra. All of these components can become infected, but most infections involve the lower tract the urethra and the bladder. Antibiotics are the typical treatment for urinary tract infections. But you can take steps to reduce your chance a getting a uti in the first place. Causes of Urinary Tract InfectionThe common Causes of Urinary Tract Infection :
