Uraemia is a medical term for the accumulation of urea and other waste products in the blood because of acute or chronic KIDNEY FAILURE. Symptums include loss of energy, headache, nausea, vomiting,sore mouth, drowsiness, muscle-twitching and cramps, abnormal skin sensations, and skin discoloration and itch. If untreated, uraemia may progress to seizures, coma, and death. Treatment is by correction of any under-lying cause, if possible, or otherwise by removing waste products from the blood via DIALYSIS, which must be ongoing unless a kidney transplant is done.
