Cervical Eversion - Cervical Eversion symptom, treatment, causes
The term 'cervical erosion' was used in the past describe the appearance of the cervix (neck of uterus) when the lining of the cervical can extended onto its vaginal surface. The membral lining the canal appears red and granular compared with the usual smooth pink covering of the vaginal surface of the cervix. This was thought to indical ulceration - hence the term 'erosion' - before thel advent of colposcopy (examination of the cervix through a magnifying instrument) revealed its truei nature. It is now known that it is normal for the lining of the canal to grow out onto the vagin surface of the cervix at certain stages of life (birthl puberty and pregnancy),and the changed name reflects this.
