Echothiophate Iodide - Learn about Echothiophate Iodide Side Effects and PrecautionsEchothiophate Iodide InformationThe pharmacology action of Echothiophate Iodide is that it causes miosis, increase in facility of outflow of aqueous humor, fall in IOP, and potentiation of accommodation by enhancing the effect of endogenously liberated acetylcholine in the iris, ciliary muscle, and other parasympathetic innervated structures of the eye. Echothiophate Iodide is used in treatment of chronic open-angle glaucoma; treatment of accommodative esotropia.
Interaction and Contraindication of Echothiophate IodideInteraction of Echothiophate Iodide - Cholinesterase inhibitors (eg, succinylcholine), organophosphate and carbamate insecticides: The effects of these agents may be potentiated by echothiophate. Contraindication of Echothiophate Iodide - Active uveal inflammation; most cases of angle-closure glaucoma because of the possibility of increasing angle block; hypersensitivity to any component of the product.
